Artical I Clause 3: Apportionment of Representatives and taxes
“ Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

Where does it state that I must tell them what time I leave for work? See Michele Bachmann's comments on her requirement to fill out a long form census.

I continue to hear that we support the Constitution but ....
You must understand the principles on which this country were founded and do what you say in order to save the republic. Parsing the Constitution is NOT what made this country great. You are either in or you are out.

This should be the model used across the state to fairly evaluate our candidates. Although I do not live in the 11th district, I would not vote for some of the candidates who could not even take the time to answer some or all of the questions. If they don't respond to questions from their constituents now, what can we expect of them when they get to Washington?

Increasing the debt ceiling needs to be called by its correct title: income redistribution. Printing money out of thin air is the same as devaluating the dollar and your life's saving. Since the money goes mainly to social programs, the government is redistributing the fruits of your labor.

Both Bachmann and Marsha Blackburn backed out, as I understand, because of questions coming from the House Standards committee. I certainly wouldn't want their seats jeopardized because of a Tea Party Convention.

Many of us simply assumed that Tea Party Nation was, like most tea party groups, a not-for-profit organization, and never thought to ask about it.

I just hope that some good comes from it for our state and our country and I'm ready to move past the contraversy.
I suspect, though, with campaign finance issues being such a hot topic, that it will continue to be in the media...especially as it relates to what Palin does with the money she receives as keynote speaker. She better make sure she plays exactly by the rules, if making donations to other campaigns. The sharp knives are still out for her.

I have posted some comments on this event at: <a href="http://triangle.ncfreedom.us/2010/01/28/tea-party-convention-controversy/" target="_blank">http://triangle.ncfreedom.us/2010/01/28/tea-party...</a>

For all of the controversy, the 600 attendees who have put up their money and time to attend the convention will be the deciding factor whether this will be a success or not.

Tim,
Great reply to Dodge. Right on. The GOP needs to get back to its core principles (that they have thrown under the bus) if they want to get the disgruntled, disenfranchised Republicans back. The GOP left the folks. The folks didn't leave the GOP. That's why there is a Tea Party movement. Folks from all parties who want a limited federal government, fiscal restraint and a free market economy based on sound money have joined Tea Party ranks.
The GOP needs to get on board or they wil be left in the dust of history. We're not going away! We're not going back to sleep and we're not voting for RHINOs!

Things will change and they won't know what hit them. The white house is an expense not a revenue source and they need to rain in the budget. They have became to big for there pants and now it's time to make changes.
